Window Locking

Replacement window locks and gearboxes

The locking mechanism is a key feature of any UPVC, composite or timber window. These locks are manufactured by a number of companies and it is important to ensure that you purchase the correct lock for your particular window.

How to identify my window lock
There are a number of key aspects to look for when working out which is the correct replacement lock and we are always happy to offer more technical advice and reassurance should you require: why not email us a photo or give us a call?

How to replace my window lock
Replacing a UPVC window lock is a relatively straightforward job: and we are currently working on a video guide to assist our customers.  In the mean time, do feel free to give us a call.

In some instances, rather than replacing the full lock strip, it may be possible to just replace the lock gearbox – depending on the manufacturer and the specific mechanism.  The manufacturer’s details are often stamped on the strip and we are happy to advise on your best course of action using this information.

How to replace a window gearbox
These gearboxes normally attach to the strip using a couple of bolts, so removing and replacing them is a relatively easy job to do.  Please visit our how to section for more information.  If you need more help, or just technical confirmation before placing your order you can send us a photo of your current gearbox or give us a ring.
