Raising the Roof for the Rhinos Foundation and Yorkshire Air Ambulance

On Friday 7th July UPVC Maintenance Supplies hosted an Open Day to raise funds for our two chosen charities – Leeds Rhinos Foundation and Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

The day was the brainchild of Finance Manager Emma Earnshaw “we were Yorkshire founded and remain proudly local to this day – being able to support the local community through local charities is an important part of our company culture”. Thanks to a combination of cake, competitions and the attractive offer to throw wet sponges at our counter staff, we are delighted to announce that we now have £1,000 for the two charities. She continues “we were able to get some great raffle prizes donated by local businesses – theme park tickets, spa vouchers, even a bottle of gin! The good work these charities do meant companies were happy to support our efforts, and it meant our customers were excited by the prospect of winning some really amazing prizes”.

The Open Day had another purpose – celebrating the company’s silver anniversary in style. “I started off in maintenance and repair, but it soon became apparent that there was increasing demand for the supply of hardware for fitters, so I rented a lock-up so I could supply others” says David Earnshaw; Owner and Managing Director. This sector continued to thrive and by 2005 the business opened its first formal trade counter in Pudsey, moving to its current location in Birstall in 2010. “By 2011 the success of the supply business meant that we decided to concentrate our efforts here and we stopped offering a repair service – we are able to advise our customers of our network of colleagues in the industry who can repair and fit should they need help” he continues.

The business now trades from two sites; as David says: “We opened the Rotherham counter in 2012 as there was a real cluster of customers wanting to be able to pick up quickly and easily – it’s a loyal base that does us proud”.

As well as face-to-face the company sells online and over the phone – offering 24/7 ordering and high quality free technical support.

UPVC Maintenance is still a family business – with David at the helm alongside wife Karen, and daughter Emma – supported by a staff of seven across the two branches. The business might have local history but its wings are spread far and wide with a customer base that spreads from Land’s End to John O-Groats and beyond – we even have customers in the US!
