STEP 3 : LOOK AT THE SECONDARY MECHANISMS

Go along the lock faceplate and make a note of the numbers and types of secondary mechanisms.

STEP 4 : MEASURE

Measure the handle/spindle centre and backset as illustrated.
A: Handle/spindle centre Taken from the centre of the keyhole to the centre of the handle/spindle. In this example there are two possible spindle points.
B: Backset The distance from the middle of the spindles to the front face of the lock.

The final step is to measure from the spindle centre to each of the secondary locking points. In the example below there are four - two hooks and two rollers.
A: Spindle centre to top hook Taken from the centre of the handle/spindle to the first secondary top locking mechanism.
B: Spindle to top roller Taken from the centre of the handle/spindle to the second secondary top locking mechanism.
C: Spindle to bottom hook Taken from the centre of the handle/spindle to the first secondary bottom locking mechanism.
B: Spindle to bottom roller Taken from the centre of the handle/spindle to the second secondary bottom locking mechanism.
